Flowers with personality
If you've never come across me or my business before, welcome! I'm Lucy, florist and owner of Tangled Thistle Floral Design.
How it began…
Growing up in the countryside, I’ve always loved being in nature and held an appreciation for flowers. A couple years ago, I decided to take a step back to re-evaluate my choice of career, and get to the core of the life I wanted to build for myself. As someone who enjoys being creative and hands-on, a little seed had been planted in my head that a career working with flowers would suit me and my vision for the future. Although, it wasn’t actually until I started my first professional course that I realised the full potential of taking on a career in floristry and what that could mean for me.
Exploring the ability to completely transform a space with natural materials and create pieces of floral art seemed to light the spark within me. Attending courses and meeting kind like-minded individuals boosted me further, and so I decided to focus my business towards weddings and events. It is my ultimate dream to achieve this with each and every client whether it be a small event with friends or a full day of wedded celebrations.
Looking to the future…
Fast-forward to today, my world has opened up to a whole new array of possibilities! Who knows what more is to come, but one thing is for sure… I am so excited for the future of Tangled Thistle, to see how it changes and evolves, and for my own personal growth that comes with that.
About the business…
Tangled Thistle offers an elegant and personal floral service for intimate weddings and elopements as well as special occasions and corporate events. I pride myself on emphasizing the natural beauty that can be found around us with all my arrangements, big or small. Each stem is placed with care to result in relaxed, romantic pieces that capture the true essence of nature.
Being part of such a big global industry, I feel it is imperative that I stay true to my values and principles, especially when it comes to protecting the natural world. Sustainability is a massive part of my business, and I strive to be as environmentally friendly as possible with the aim to keep single-use materials and plastics to an absolute minimum. Every stem is picked specially for your event by local British growers whenever possible, meaning you get to celebrate the best of what each of the seasons has to offer. Working this way means you can sit back knowing that your wedding or event will be as kind to the planet as it is beautiful.
